Composition

Laetitia began composing music in 2018 while volunteering as a full-time music teacher at Metolius Elementary School near Madras, Oregon. Laetitia was so inspired by her students that she started composing songs for them to sing, using their interests and current school studies as subjects for the songs. Her year as a volunteer at Metolius Elementary culminated in an all-school recital featuring original compositions for each grade level. Since then she has continued to compose songs and piano pieces for her family and friends and, of course, her current students. Creating at the piano and teaching her students how to create their own unique music are Laetitia's greatest joys. Her students regularly compose music for the Young Composers Project of Washington State, an annual composing adjudication, and several of them have been recognized with awards for their age groups.

Laetitia is sincerely grateful for her brief time (April 2019 – October 2019) studying with late pianist and pedagogue Forrest Kinney: his zest and passion for creating continue to inspire and motivate.

Laetitia is also deeply grateful to musician and pedagogue George Klos for his thoughtful and inspiring mentorship and compositional guidance while living in Madras, Oregon.
